Our commitment to ethical sourcing and human rights
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Shirley's Foods (SS World Ltd) has taken to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in our supply chains or in any part of our business.
Shirley's Foods is dedicated to bringing authentic West African flavours to modern kitchens across the UK. We source ingredients from trusted suppliers who share our values of ethical business practices and respect for human rights.
Our supply chains include:
We have implemented the following policies to combat modern slavery:
All suppliers must adhere to our strict code of conduct which prohibits any form of forced labour, child labour, or human trafficking.
We conduct thorough due diligence on all new suppliers, including site visits and audits to ensure compliance with ethical standards.
We recognise that certain sectors and geographical areas present a higher risk of modern slavery. We pay particular attention to our international supply chains, especially in regions where labour rights protections may be weaker. We work closely with suppliers to ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for workers' rights throughout our supply chain.
We provide training to our staff and partners on the risks of modern slavery and how to identify and report concerns. All team members are encouraged to report any suspicions, and we maintain a confidential whistleblowing system.
This statement is reviewed annually and updated as necessary. We continuously monitor our supply chains and take immediate action if any concerns are identified.
